The 5 Best Food and Drink Happy Hours in Downtown Houston

I love a good happy hour in my city Houston, especially among the bustle of downtown. But I love a happy hour even more when they have food AND drink specials. If I’m skipping my after work workout class, I am indulging in everything. The following is a list of my favorite Houston grown spots that have great deals on both of these must-haves.
Some are even walking distance from each other so you could do an adventurous happy hour hop!

*All happy hours are Monday-Friday unless otherwise noted.

Batanga

From Sangria to tapas to Spanish and Brazilian music, you’re delved in the lively Latin atmosphere. Pro-tip: The nachos are generous and they have *live* music Thursday to Sunday.

Batanga’s expansive patio

  • $3-5 Beers
  • $5 Sangria, Wine, and Mojitos
  • $2-6 Food including tacos, nachos, and flatbreads

When? 3-7pm

Hearsay

Hearsay has two locations in Downtown- Market Square and Discovery Green. My favorite is Market Square because it is house in the old W.L. Foley building originally constructed in 1860. Houston is not known for keeping a lot of history, so this building is a gem- solid historical architecture and intrigue mixed with modern chic decor. Plus Hearsay has excellent craft cocktails and food, so that doesn’t hurt.

Hearsay Market Square

  • $5 Wine
  • $6 Cocktails
  • $3 Beer Bottles
  • $7 Appetizers and Snacks

When? 3:30-6:30pm
Where? 218 Travis St., Houston, TX 77002

The Moonshiners

Who doesn’t love anything 20s era themed? A time when alcohol was outlawed but it didn’t stop a soul from drinking, dancing, and being merry. Because doing something badly can sometimes feel pretty good. While you won’t get that total feeling of mischief here (depending on how long you stay), Moonshiners has great happy hour prices and generous portions.

Specials

  • $5 select cocktails
  • 1/2 off glasses of wine
  • $2 off Southern beers
  • $3.50-6 appetizers and snacks

When? 2-6pm
Where? 1000 Prairie St., Houston, TX 77002

La Fisheria- Seafood & Mexican Cocina

The vibe of La Fisheria is vibrant and social. Bright blues and funky decor contribute a light and laid back experience. Pro-tip: Frozen margaritas are just $1 on Mondays and Wednesdays!

Inside La Fisheria

Specials

  • $5 Margaritas, Cocktails, Wine
  • $5-7 appetizers including sopes, dips (queso, guacamole), and quesadillas

Where? 213 Milam St., Houston, TX 77002

The Grove

When I’m thinking of a beautiful place to tell my friends to meet for a downtown happy hour, the Grove is my go to. Set among the tall oaks of Discovery Green, it is a natural oasis in the concrete jungle.

Outdoor Walkway/Hang out Area

Honorable Mention- McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood & Steaks

While I try to keep all my favorites to “non-chains,” I sometimes can’t pass up a super good deal especially at a typically expensive restaurant outside of happy hour times. Plus, they have these deals on Sundays too!

McCormick and Schmick’s

Specials

  • $4 wells
  • $4.50 beer
  • $6 wine
  • $6-7 cocktails
  • $3-9.50 Food including baja fish tacos, cheeseburgers, and seared ahi tuna
